Social media has been ablaze today with praise for SpaceX, after the company successfully landed one of its reusable rockets at a launch pad in Florida.
The Falcon 9 rocket was tapped to fly a cargo of supplies and equipment out to the International Space Station over the weekend, when it launched from the Cape Canaveral Launch Sector 39 on Saturday. Shortly after takeoff the rocket’s first fuel stage separated from the craft and began its descent towards Earth. The rocket part, equipped with boosters of its own, then navigated to the Air Force base it took off from and successfully touched down, the third such landing by SpaceX not conducted on seafaring carriers.
Congratulations @elonmusk and the entire team at @SpaceX for pushing the envelope. It's always a delight to watch a landing..

A rocket landing on a tail or fire as God and Robert A. Heinlein intended! pic.twitter.com/Cd13TelKuo

So @SpaceX can return a supersonic rocket from space and perfectly land it the same way it launched and I can't even make a proper PB&J.

@SpaceX @elonmusk the CRS-10 stage 1 landing was one of the most beautiful things I've seen, and I've seen that land a few times already!
