Digital wallet app Paytm has seen an explosion in popularity this past month, thanks to it providing an alternative in a cash-strapped country. Now, the app has introduced a new security feature to help keep your money secure.

‘App Password’ lets you set a password, security code or even your fingerprint to protect your digital wallet. The feature lets you be safe in the knowledge that, even if your phone is stolen or lost, your money is not.

What you’ll first need to do is set a default password for your smartphone, if you haven’t already. Once that’s done, open the Paytm app and attempt to make a payment. When you click on the ‘Pay’ or ‘Passbook’ option, the app will recommend that you turn on the additional security feature.

At this point, select the “Add security feature” option, and you’ll be asked to confirm your smartphone password, PIN, or fingerprint ID. Once that’s done, Paytm will now use it as your transaction password in the app.

You can also turn off the feature later by navigating to the ‘Settings and Security’ menu in the app and sliding the button to off. Unfortunately, while Android already has the feature available in its latest app, iPhone users will still have to wait for the security addon, which Paytm promises will come soon.
