The first computers capable of supporting the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset will cost from US $1,499 upwards, with a VR headset bundled in, when bookings open on February 16.

The computers in question, from Asus, Dell and Alienware have all been put through their paces by Oculus VR, the headset's makers, to ensure they meet or exceed the device's requirements.  Regardless of the computer a consumer opts for, it will come with an Oculus Rift headset, sensor, remote control, an Xbox One controller and two games - "EVE: Valkrie Founder's Pack" and "Lucky's Tale".

The headset alone costs US $599 and, if a consumer has already bought one, he or she will be entitled to a discount on the initial bundles. Deliveries will begin in April and, for those that can't wait, Oculus VR has also provided a downloadable tool that will run on an existing PC to determine if it can cope with the helmet's demands.
