Microsoft has released public preview of its Office 2016.

According to CNET, the new Office 2016 public preview is available for download. Some apps were included in previous releases of the Windows 10 Technical Preview and made available for both IT professionals and developers.

The new preview is available to Office 365 subscribers. If users do not have an Office 365 subscription, then they can download a trial version of Office 2016.

The Microsoft Office 2016 will work on Windows 7, 8 and Windows 10 PCs, laptops and tablets.

However, the customers must uninstall Office 2013 to use the new preview. The two versions cannot run alongside each other.

Also, Microsoft will be updating the public preview regularly before it is made commercially available.

In addition, Microsoft is working on touch-first or universal versions of its key Office apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook, for Windows 10 devices that will be available for download via the Windows 10 Store. A second version of touch first mobile apps for Windows 10 Mobile is expected to be available for testers early this week.

Microsoft Office 2016 will be available in the fall of 2015 for Windows desktops.
