The gaming community paid tribute yesterday, with the BAFTA Game Awards 2016, an offshoot of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards.
Bethesda's Action RPG Fallout 4 was the title that claimed the top prize of Best Game, despite being pitted against other popular titles from the past year, like The Witcher III: The Wild Hunt, Metal gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Rocket League, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, and Life is Strange. In fact, while the The Witcher III might have been the winner to expect, based on all the Game of the Year awards it has already claimed, as well as the multiple BAFTA nominations this year, the CD Projekt Red game actually ended the night empty handed.
In other categories, Bloodborne claimed an award for Game Design, while Rocket League redeemed itself, picking up accolades for Multiplayer as well as Sports. Life is Strange won the award for Story with it' episodic "choose your own adventure" playstyle.
Most notably though, while Fallout 4 is the first US-made game to win the award, this event saw a barrage of indie titles scoring accolades, including Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and Her Story, that both won three awards each.
