Facebook says that it aims to reduce the number of promotional messages appearing in users' News Feed.

According to CNET, the move would mean that companies that previously sent advertisements from their free Facebook Pages would now have a harder time reaching fans. Facebook said in a statement on Friday that through this change, it intended to give people the best Facebook experience possible.

The social network site said that the idea was to increase the relevance and quality of the overall stories including Page posts that people see in their News Feeds. Earlier, Facebook users had complained to the site about the number of promotional posts that were showing up in their News Feed, following which the company reportedly revamped it.
