Facebook is launching a new application for the social networking site’s already existing ‘Groups’ feature that provides a shortcut on smartphones for easy accessibility to Groups.

According to CNN, the app updates the look of Groups but its core features are largely the same. The new features include unread counts and the ability to share a group. The company said that thousands of users check and create groups every month. However, posting a group takes some time right now especially on mobile devices.

Facebook has been busy launching new apps recently like Rooms, Poke and Messenger. However, Groups will continue to look the same on the desktop versions and mobile applications and all photos, videos and updates through the Groups app will show up in Facebook news feed.
