Facebook is reportedly working on allowing people to use the social media website for purely work purposes.

Aspiring for more professional efficiency, "Facebook at Work" will allow communication and chats with professional contacts and even enable document sharing. LinkedIn is currently the leading site for online business networking. With a network of over 1 billion people, Facebook aims to displace the likes of LinkedIn, Microsoft and Google that already have features like Google docs.

"Facebook at Work" is expected to look similar to your normal account and will continue to have News Feeds and groups, but will allow users to keep their private account at bay. This means that your personal world; photos and videos, will be hidden while you have a serious conversation with your boss over "Facebook at Work."

This new venture is apparently being worked on by developers in London for over a year, according to the Financial Times. After internal use at Facebook, it is reportedly being tested in companies, prior to its launch.

Facebook is often banned from workplaces for adversely affecting productivity. While 'Facebook at Work' will allow more users to be logged on at work, privacy may still be a matter of concern. Winning the trust of companies will be a crucial task, as they would have to feel confident for using the social media platform for confidential professional communication.

While the date of release of the new network is still unknown, it is reportedly going to be free to use initially and launched on all platforms like iOS and Andriod.
