There is something about the Endomodo workout app that tempts me to go ahead and pay for all the services. Currently, I’m using Endomodo Pro, which gives me a number of options when I go for a run.

Firstly, Endomodo Pro has an accurate pedometer. I can readily vouch for this because the circumference of my apartment building’s property is 180m, and when I finish running five and a half rounds, it tells me that a kilometre is complete. Secondly, it gives me options to select the type of workout I want. I can have a basic workout where I walk, run or cycle. I also have the option of setting a goal for myself. However, the workout continues even after achieving the goal, so it's good for my ego. Thirdly, I have the option of choosing the option for how many litres of water I need after my walk/run/cycle. In addition, it also tells me the number of calories that I burn and the pace at which I walk. Fourth, it connects to my playlist to give me a shuffle selection of music that I love. The best bit is that the app has figured out my favourite tracks and plays them, based on my workout.

However, with the positives, there are a few issues, which may not be problems for other users. Endomodo has a number of workout options, that include weight training and swimming. When you use these two options, particularly swimming, there is a major problem if you aren't using a waterproof device. You cannot tell how much you are working out and the exercise doesn't serve its purpose. Also, while doing weight training, there is no indication that you have worked out, so you wonder why the developers even put the option of weight training in the app. When you think about all the fitness applications that speak about burning calories, you primarily focus on cardiovascular exercises.

However, despite these bugs, Endomodo is a great application to have on your phone, whether it's free or a paid for application. Endomodo is free to download for AndroidiOS, and Windows Phone. Just remember that if you subscribe for the Pro version, it's a yearly subscription that you'll have to pay annually.
