Apple is reportedly all geared up to mass produce sapphire screens to be used in future mobile devices. The tech giant is known to have placed a large order with GT Advanced Technologies for furnaces and chambers required for making sapphire displays.

According to Cnet, sources revealed that GT Advanced has already received 518 furnace and chamber systems, which would let it build 103 million to 116 million 5-inch displays per year. Apple had signed a contract with the company last year to produce sapphire-based materials at Apple's new facility in Arizona, and has used the element fir the surface of the rear camera lens of iPhone 5 and the Touch ID fingerprint scanner in the iPhone 5S.

The report said that the artificially made sapphire screens could render smartphones scratch-resistant and nearly unbreakable nature.
