Apple Event September 2015 livestream now open to Windows users

Apple is known to be very exclusive where its devices are concerned, even to the point of only opening up their event livestreams to Apple product users. This time, however, things might be a little different.

Apple's live stream for their event later tonight is now actually open to Windows users as well, but there's a catch. Only people with WIndows 10 will be able to watch the event live, through Microsoft's new Edge browser. On the event's official web page, Apple lists the products you can stream the launch on, including Safari on iOS, OS X,and now PC with Windows 10. The reason for this is that Apple's livestream uses something called HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), which requires iOS 7.0 or later, MacOS with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later, or a 2nd or 3rd gen Apple TV with software version 6.2 or later. That protocol isn't included in most third party browsers, but Microsoft has now included support for HLS in Edge on WIndows 10.

While there are other ways around it, it should mean a lot to people already on Windows 10, to be able to watch the event in their browser, as it was meant to be.
