A US company turned a real Glock handgun into a Nintendo "Duck Hunt" gun

For a lot of people born in the late 80’s and 90’s, video games involved classics like Super Mario  Bros, Excite Bike, Bomberman, and the like. So imagine having your very own Duck Hunt gun, with a few improvements.

A US-based machine prototyping company Precision Syndicate has gone ahead and recreated the NES Zapper gun, but by modifying a real working Glock handgun. It may look exactly like your childhood toy but make no mistake, it’s very real and very dangerous. The original, released in 1984, was a custom controller for Nintendo’s Duck Hunt game, letting players point at their television set to shoot down flying ducks for the highest score.

The company’s Facebook post is, of course filled with comments from concerned readers, many lamenting how projects like these, if they become popular, endanger policemen in the line of duty as well as civilians. And they’re fears are not completely unfounded, as evidenced by the death of a 12-year-old in Ohio last year, who was gunned down after a police officer reportedly mistook his toy gun for the real thing.

Yes, making real guns look like toys, and vice versa, can have legitimately dangerous effects. However, you can’t deny the detail put into crafting an old-school nostalgia prop, albeit a lethal one.
