Power distribution company BSES is setting up a dedicated electricity grid to supply
uninterrupted electricity to the Commonwealth Games village.BSES CEO Arun Kanchan said the grid is being developed at a cost of Rs 40 crore.
    
"We have begun work on the Rs 40 crore state-of-the-art grid, which would exclusively cater to the electricity requirements of the upcoming Commonwealth Games Village
complex," he said. He said that it will be a "green grid" as over 30 per cent of the area where it will be located will be covered by trees and flower plants.
    
To be located near the Akshardham temple, the grid will have the latest energy conservation techniques. Kanchan said the BSES has submitted a Rs 280 crore plan
to Sahjanabad Development Board for laying underground electricity cables in an around the Jama Masjid and other areas of Old Delhi.
