Union minister of state for health and family welfare, Dinesh Trivedi has said that his ministry is thinking on a plan of issuing of e-health cards to all new borns in the country.

Speaking at a function after inaugurating a naturopathy hospital in Didada village of Mandvi taluk of Kutch district on Sunday, Trivedi said that like all citizens have a right to life, his government was thinking on the same lines and planning on introducing right to health for all.

Trivedi, who hails from the Didada of Kutch was elected from the Barrackpore constituency in West Bengal on Trinamool Congress party ticket in the 15th Lok Sabha.

He said that his government was thinking of giving e-health cards to each new born baby which would contain all their details including the birth time, weight, blood group, how many vaccines have been administered, in short a complete health profile of the child.

Trivedi said that this was his first function after taking charge as MoS in the union cabinet and that too, in his own village. The function was organised by Didada Sarvodaya Trust.

In 1996, Trivedi had contested on a Congress ticket from Kutch Lok Sabha seat but had lost to BJP’s Pushpadan Gadhvi.

Trivedi said that there were not enough qualified doctors in the internal villages across the country, so his ministry was thinking of increasing the rural internship of MBBS students to five years.
