Shilpa Shetty has postponed her marriage plans. Instead of October this year, a close friend of the actor revealed that it’s going to be around February next year.

Shilpa, who is celebrating her 34th birthday on Monday, confirmed over phone from uptown London that her marriage date has indeed been pushed back to early next year. “It’s not happening in October. I can’t reveal any dates to you because I have become extremely superstitious about it,” says Shilpa.

Friends close to the actor say that Shilpa wants to go by their family astrologer and doesn’t want to get married during a year-end. But ask her the reason and the sexbomb says the biggest one is her new Juhu home. Shilpa and Raj are building a duplex penthouse on the first and ground floors of Fortune 10, a multi-storied building along Juhu beach. The interiors of the apartment are being done by Sussanne Roshan (Hrithik’s wife).

“It got pushed back because of several factors – the dates have to be right and moreover, our apartment will not get done by that time. Also, I need to complete all the pending projects that I have on my hand as I don’t want to work for at least four months after my marriage,” she says. Shilpa, who has been told that her prospective in-laws want to take her out for a “quiet dinner” on Monday at an Indian restaurant in London, admits that she has no idea what Raj has planned. “He is speaking about it (the birthday celebrations) in hushed tones. They (Raj’s parents) are taking me out for dinner and I simply have no idea what they have planned for me,” Shilpa giggles.

For her marriage, Shilpa says that she is planning a typical Mangalorean style wedding in Mumbai, followed by receptions both in Mumbai and London. And she reveals that it’s going to be Raj who will be shifting base to Mumbai and not vice-versa after the marriage. “I want my children to grow up and get educated in Mumbai and not in London. I am an Indian at heart and I will never be able to shift base.”

But wouldn’t shifting base to India hamper Raj’s (who’s an NRI) business interests? “I don’t think so. Most of Raj’s businesses are now based out of Dubai (and partly in Ukraine as he deals in precious metals). He anyways travels a lot and the difference will be that he will be travelling from Mumbai instead of from London,” she signs off.

Who wears the pants?
It’s clear that it is Shilpa who takes all the decisions regarding their their relationship, and Raj is more than happy with the way things are. “He listens to me. He is shy and likes me to take a few decisions for him (in the relationship). But at the same time, he is my sounding board for all other matters, especially my businesses,” says Shilpa.
