6 Chhara men arrested for robbery bid

Six people of the Chhara community were arrested on Wednesday while attempted to rob the Ahmedabad District Co-op Bank (ADC) at Sanand. They were under the impression that conman Ashok Jadeja had deposited his ill-obtained money in the bank.

They came on three motorcycles and tried to snatch a money bag from the hands of a bank employee, Nalin Dave, inside the bank. They have been identified as Prakash Chhara, Kirit Chhara, Satish Chhara, Srikant Chhara, Jayesh Chhara and Manoj Chhara.

In the afternoon, they entered the bank premises, went straight to Dave and tried to snatch a bag from his hand. As Dave shouted for help, people there nabbed all the six and beat them up. The six were then handed over to Sanand police.
Later, branch manager Pratap Dabhi lodged a complaint with Sanand police.
