Ashok Jadeja was a simple man till the idea of orchestrating one of the biggest frauds of the country clicked his mind. A homoeopathic practitioner, Jadeja had opened his dispensary in Makarba village along with a partner. However, despite being a homoeopathic doctor, Jadeja practised general medicine.

Jadeja, who is married to Nitu from Ajmer, has four brothers, Khimji, Hadmat, Dhiru and Kanti Jadeja and three sisters. While two of his sisters are married, the youngest Geeta Jadeja, is still single. His father Jadmal had migrated from Badmere in Rajasthan and changed his surname from Didawala to Jadeja to hide his identity as member of the once criminal tribe Chhara.

Jadeja completed his higher secondary education from FD High School in Juhapura, and reportedly earned his BHMS degree from a private institute in Hyderabad. “Jadeja has been booked seven times earlier for presenting a fake farmer’s certificate while purchasing land,” a source in the Chhara community told DNA. He was held in custody at Ranpur police station in Sanand.

“Jadeja was just like any other common man till he contrived the scheme to dupe people,” said another source.
