Complying with the government order, a leading private school has suspended the nurse and the sports teacher for their "inept" handling of Akkriti Bhatia case in which the 17-year-old girl died on way to hospital after suffering an asthma attack in the campus.

The Education Department had asked the Modern School, Vasant Vihar, to suspend the two after a Government-appointed committee found them guilty of negligence in providing medical care to the student.

"The school has suspended the two people and also submitted a compliance report to the government," government sources said.

Repeated attempts to contact the school proved futile.

Akkriti had died on April 20 on way to hospital after suffering an asthma attack in the school premises.

The Delhi Government had constituted the probe committee on April 23 in the wake of public outrage over the death of the teenager as students and the girl's parents had alleged that she died due to "negligence" by the school authorities.

Following submission of the report, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had also asked the school to suspend the nurse and the sports teacher.

The government had said the suspension of the two can be revoked depending on the outcome of the final report.
