Punjab to get new industrial policy soon: Sukhbir

Punjab would soon come out with a new comprehensive industrial policy aimed at projecting the state as an attractive investment destination while giving a much-needed impetus to the state's sagging economy, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal said today.
  
"The draft of the comprehensive new industrial policy is ready and will be made public after the election process at Nurmahal assembly segment is over.", Sukhbir told reporters here claiming Punjab would soon acquire the status of best investment destination in India for its liberal and hassle-free policy.
    
Regarding the status of Special Economic Zones in the state, Sukhbir said three of the total ten SEZs sanctioned for Punjab were already on the ground and on the remaining
planning was being done. The new industrial policy will also deliberate on setting up of SEZs" he added. Maintaining tourism as a potential component to generate revenue, Sukhbir said a master plan to tab tourism potential of the state was being prepared. "Several countries, including Singapore and Thailand, were solely dependent on tourism
industry alone",he pointed out.
