The father of the 19-year-old Russian national, Elena Sukhanova, who was found dead on the railway tracks in Goa, will be arriving in the coastal state next week.

"Her father would arrive next week and we have requested the police not to dispose off Elena's dead body," Vikram Varma, lawyer for Russian consulate in Goa, said on Friday

Elena's mutilated corpse was found on a railway track three kms away from Thivim railway station near here on May 8.

Varma said that the police have been asked to preserve the body till her father arrives as he will take a call on whether to transport it back to Russia or give decent burial here.

"Her mother is completely in a shock and will not come to India," he said.

Goa police are investigating the death of the teenage girl who was holidaying in the state. After the initial theory of an accidental death due to falling from the train, the police are now probing into the homicidal angle.

The investigations revealed that Elena had left for Mumbai without a passport. According to police, the deposition of Russian tourists in the case do not mention that she had intended to visit Mumbai, which has further raised doubts, whether she really left for Mumbai or was killed and thrown on the tracks.
