83-year old Kishore Jhangiani makes an appearance in a reality TV show in search of a wife
Shocking as it might sound, 83-year old Kishore Jhangiani, has shot for the matrimonial show, Star Vivah that is going to be aired next month. Speaking to us from London, Kishore reveals, “I feel lonely everyday. Hence, I want a companion.”
This British citizen has seen his share of ups and downs in his life. He says, “In 1951, I eloped and got married and my parents kicked me out of home. I also lost my job at a Sindhi firm because I’m a Sindhi and married outside the community. After a few years, I went to Singapore and got a banking job. Mala (wife) was my backbone. I was a joru ka gulam. It’s all because of her that I’m leading such a luxurious life now.”
Kishore and Mala spent 52 years together and when she expired in 2004, Kishore was shattered.
Now, he’s back on national television, looking for a partner of around 70 years who (like him) is an avid traveler. He says of his idealistic partner, “ She should be fit to travel because I love traveling. Even though I’m a diabetic, I’m fit. She should be an Indian. I don’t have a problem with any religion. Even at this age, I’m romantic, sensitive, sentimental and I love kids.”
Though Kishore has two sons — one who’s in London and the other who’s in Plymouth, he visits them only two-three times a year and only for a few days. The rest of the time, he’s either in Mumbai on his five-year visa or is traveling around the world.
