The Judgment Day is here and all preparations for counting of votes on Saturday have been completed by the district administration here.

The counting of votes for Surat Lok Sabha seat will be undertaken at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, while counting for the Bardoli seat will be held at Ghandhy Engineering College.

District collector Dilip Raval visited both venues on Friday and took stock of the vote counting preparations. He said that counting staff have been called at 5.00 in the morning and they will be chosen randomly for counting of votes. The counting of votes will commence at 8.00 am with postal and service ballots, which will be followed by counting of EVM votes at 8.30.

Eighty-six tables have been set up for counting at SVNIT, while 84 tables have been set up at Ghandhy Engineering College. A micro observer will closely supervise the counting process on each table and report to the central observers. To ensure proper counting, the central observers will randomly check any two EVMs after counting on each table. No mobile phone or other devices will be allowed in the counting centres.

Tight security arrangements have been made at the counting venues with deployment of police, home guards and paramilitary personnel to maintain law & order during the counting of votes. The results are expected to be declared around noon, according to officials.

Counting of votes for Navsari LS seat will be held at Garda College in Navsari, while counting for Valsad seat will be undertaken at Government Engineering College in Valsad. Officials said the preparations have been completed and counting of votes will be held amidst tight security arrangements.
