Ahluwalia termed his experience as a "great privilege to vote in one of the greatest elections in the world".
Deputy chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia on Thursday said that the electorate should not think of one or two issues when they exercise their franchise but rather look at the total picture.
Ahluwalia spoke to reporters after casting his ballot and termed the experience as a "great privilege to vote in one of the greatest elections in the world".
"It's a great privilege to vote. There is not one or two issues. We see (the) total picture and in the light of that I decided whom I should vote (for)," said Ahluwalia, who played a key role in formulation of the economic policies of the UPA government in the last five years.
When asked about the low voter turnout, Ahluwalia said, "You cant say (that). May be at this point of time voting percentage can be low, but voting will continue till 5 PM. Every polling booth has seasonality. Some polling booths register higher voting percentage in morning and some in evening."
