Tytler, Sajjan's removal will counter "negative impact": Shiela

Delhi chief minister Shiela Dikshit has said the "negative impact" on poll prospects of Congress in Punjab and Delhi will "no longer be there" following the withdrawal of the candidature of Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar over the 1984 riots issue.

She said she hoped that the party's decision not to field them will "certainly" have an impact in the two states.

"The negative impact in Punjab will no longer be there. What is the opposition going to say now? What is the BJP and the Akali Dal going to say now? So, (in) Delhi also, we have to choose two new candidates and let's hope that the right decision will be taken," she said.

Asked if it was a moral victory for her, Dikshit said, "No, no...It is not a personal victory for me at all. Because I am one of those who abides by what the high command says and the winnability of the candidates".

On why Tytler and Kumar were given tickets in the first place, the Congress leader said," Please let me remind all of you that these two very candidates had won with thumping majority last time".
