Hundreds of people attended a special memorial service for Indian teenager Jonathan Marques whose body was found in a pond in Reading in February after he went missing since January six.

Marques, 15, had arrived in Britain with his parents last year but was reportedly unhappy and wanted to return to his native place Goa.

People from Swindon and London also attended the St James Church mass in Reading. His father Menino Marques was present.

Jonathan's uncle George Afonso thanked everyone for their support including the Reading community, Thames Valley Police and the media.

Afonso said it would be an opportunity for everyone "to celebrate the life of Jonathan and thank God for the love and joy Jonathan brought to his family and friends during his short time with us".

Post-mortem tests carried out on the teenager's body have failed to establish the cause of death. The police said the death was not thought to be suspicious.
