PDK workers arrested for attempting to lock IT office

About 90 activists of the pro-LTTE Periyar Dravida Kazhakam were on Friday, taken into custody, when they allegedly attempted to lock the gates of the Income Tax Department Office here, accusing the Centre of supporting the Sri Lankan government, police said.

As the workers, led by PDK organising secretary, Aruchami, carrying locks and chains, headed towards the office, located on Race Course Road, police rushed to the spot and took them into custody.

The workers carried placards that read "close down income tax office" and "stop supplying arms to Sri Lanka," police said.
