PM's sisters pray at Gurudwara for successful operation

Concerned at their brother's health, Preetam Kaur and Naveen Kaur, two sisters of prime minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday joined a mass prayer at a Gurudwara in the city.

Concerned at their brother's health, Preetam Kaur and Naveen Kaur, two sisters of prime minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday joined a mass prayer at a Gurudwara in the city amidst report of all faith prayers being held in different parts of the city for the successful heart surgery of the prime minister.

The two sisters accompanied by senior priests at Taratala Gurudwara in South Kolkata went for the prayer at 9 am for the successful operation of their brother, under progress in AIIMS, New Delhi.

It was not known from the family sources whether the two sisters would be leaving for New Delhi. Preetam Kaur had recently been to Delhi to enquire about the health of her brother.

Meanwhile, an all faith prayer meeting was held attended by a Garcha Gurudwara in South Kolkata at the instance of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC).

WBPCC acting president Pradip Bhattacharya, who took part in the prayer along with WBPCC secretary Tulsi Mukherjee said that members from different religion prayed for the successful operation of the prime minister.

"We also prayed to the almighty that the PM's operation ends successfully and he recovers quickly to take charge of the country," Bhattacharya said.
