Rs12,000,000,000,000, worth of MoUs signed by the Gujarat govt

It’s raining money and jobs in Gujarat. The Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit (VGGIS) 2009 saw MoUs worth Rs12 lakh crore  being signed during the two-day conclave organised in Ahmedabad.

The amount is higher than the MoUs signed in the last three VGGIS — $185 billion. On Tuesday, the total number of MoUs signed in the VGGIS 2009 reached 8,558 paving way for about 15 lakh jobs in the state.

As many as 39 MoUs worth over Rs41,002 crore in chemicals and petrochemicals sector were signed. “These investments in the chemicals and petrochemicals sector will help in providing employment to 14,070 persons,” Gujarat energy minister Saurabhbhai Patel said.
