would explode in three airports in Tamil Nadu by Tuesday evening.

The Range DIG office here received a telephone call around 2 am on Tuesday, threatening that bombs would explode in airports in Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli and Madurai by Tuesday evening.

DIG P Sivanandi said the caller, a man, spoke in chaste English. The caller ID registered a London number, he said. Police made several attempts to call back the number, but the call did not get through, he said.

Police and bomb detection and disposal squad personnel along with sniffer dogs checked the entire airport premises. But, no explosive was found till 1 pm, police sources said. Persons and vehicles entering the airport were being subjected to intensified checking, they said.
