New multi-level automated parking lots to come up in Delhi

Six new state-of-the-art multi-level automated parking lots are going to come up in various parts of the national capital.
    
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the primary civic agency of the city, has invited bids from national or international private firms for developing integrated car parking infrastructure in the six locations.
    
The parking sites, which will have THE latest technology to transport the cars to different levels, will be constructed on design, build, finance, operation and transfer (DBFO&T) basis, an MCD official said.
    
"It is the first time that such state-of-the-art car parking sites are being constructed in India. In the automated sites, new technology will be used to transport to the cars to various levels and you don't need to manually drive the vehicles to park them on the upper levels," he said.
    
The parking projects will also include commercial plazas. The civic body is also planning to construct 12 similar parking sites across the capital.
    
The six new parking-cum-commercial complexes will be set up in Greater Kailash-I, Defence Colony, Karol Bagh, South Extension, Lajpat Nagar and Rani Bagh, the official said.
    
The MCD has also taken up a project to construct 24 conventional parking sites in various areas of the city.
