Delhi Daredevils are happy to have pulled off a coup by getting Australia’s upcoming player David Warner on board.
Having signed the 22-year-old New South Wales batsman for the second season of the Indian Premier League in April this year, the Delhi officials saw him score a resounding 89 off 43 balls in a T20 match against South Africa in Melbourne.
“It is good to see him bat so well as it not only means that we have made a wise decision but also that we can go in with more confidence in the second season,” said former India paceman TA Sekar, who is the vice president of GMR Sports, which owns the Delhi team.
“With batsmen like Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir already in the side, we are looking forward to an exciting tournament,” said Sekar after Warner smashed seven fours and six sixes in his first international match.
“Our plans for the season are not yet in place but you can expect a few announcements from us in the coming days,” said Sekar.
