The VHP on Monday urged the central and state governments to take action against local militant groups instead of focussing only on jehadi groups based in Pakistan.

Local terrorists were mainly responsible for the attacks in Jaipur, Bangalore and Ahemedabad and it was not a difficult task to identify these elements "being groomed in the madrasas" and take stringent action, VHP general secretary Pravin Togadia told reporters here.

He also wondered while United States and United Kingdom were able to control the jehadis, why was it not possible for the Indian government to do do. He alleged that Tamil Nadu and Kerala had become the hub for terrorist elements.

Togadia also said India should destroy the terrorists bases in Pakistan if that country failed to handover the people responsible for the Mumbai terror strikes. The UPA Government should pressurise the Sri Lankan government to stop attacking the civilian Tamils in the island.

It was the reponsibility of the Tamil Nadu and central governments to protect the Tamils, he said.
