Former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on Tuesday, said that he would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if his health permits.
When reporters asked him whether this will be a move to enter the mainstream politics, Shekhawat said contesting the election will be for the "service of public and not politics."
He said a leadership that strengthens the country, wins confidence of the public and solves the problem of corruption and poverty, is the need of the hour.
Shekhawat said that during his visit to Kota o Monday, he got good response from the people and if health permitted he would surely contest the polls with their support.
But he did not clarify from which constituency and party he would contest.
He said that he would launch a campaign against corruption but its framework is yet to be finalised.
Commenting on casteism and involvement of money in ticket distribution for assembly elections, Shekhawat said that it is unfortunate for the country if both the elements dominate a party.
