PANCHKULA: The stadium was not exactly bursting at the seams, but the crowd certainly was excited at the prospect of watching the much awaited day-night contest between the local team and the heroes from across the border.
Chandigarh Lions were taking on Lahore Badshahs in the hope of strengthening their chances for a semifinal berth, but a dismal batting performance saw them crash to a seven-wicket loss as the Badshahs brought themselves back in contention to book a place in the final four.
Both teams are now on six points (three wins each) from as many outings and are left with a lot of hard work ahead of them. Chennai Super Stars are the only ones to have assured a semifinal berth.
Set to score 137 for victory, the Badshahs paced their innings well. Naved-ul Hasan Rana’s 33-ball 50 saw his team through, putting up a 62-run third-wicket stand with Shahid Yousuf (28) in the process.The Badshahs got off to a flyer with Imran Nazir (18 off 13) and Imran Farhat (22 off 12) unleashing boundaries at will to score at almost 10 an over.
Earlier, Lou Vincent was the highest scorer with 33 off 23 deliveries as the Lions mustered a measly 136-6.
