MELBOURNE: With the memory of Mohali defeat still afresh, it would need a herculean effort from Australia to square the four-match Test series against India, but former stumper Adam Gilchrist believes Ricky Ponting's men can bounce back in the third Test that begins in New Delhi from Wednesday.

"There's a great challenge there, but I've got no doubt our guys will come out tomorrow fighting," Gilchrist said at the launch of his autobiography 'True Colours'.

India lead the series 1-0 following their record 320-run win in Mohali but Gilchrist feels one week's rest will help the Aussies recharge their batteries.

"I'm sure little bit of time off that they've had enabled them to regroup and get their direction right, so I expect them to come out hard," he told the 'Daily Telegraph'.

However, Gilchrist admitted the task at hand is pretty hard for the Australians as they will be playing at the Feroze Shah Kotla, known to be India's happy hunting ground.

"The wicket in Delhi is definitely tailor-made for this Indian line-up. I think Anil Kumble's record there is impeccable, so there's a lot of evidence to support India as being very comfortable there."

Gilchrist also said he spoke to Sachin Tendulkar and cleared the air after excerpts from his autobiography, criticising the master blaster for his role in the "monkeygate" issue, created quite a controversy.

"I just tried to explain to him the context in which my comments were written in the book," Gilchrist said.

"When you just grab little snippets out of the book it can be taken out of context a little bit. I just wanted to talk to him and say what I'd written because I know how big a story that was becoming, particularly in a passionate country like India where they love their cricket and their superstars. He was fantastic and fully understood."
