Emirates to add 31 weekly flights to India

Emirates on Monday announced that it will add 31 weekly services to India to take the number of weekly flights to 163 by February 2009.

NEW DELHI: Dubai-based international air carrier Emirates on Monday announced that it will add 31 weekly services to India to take the number of weekly flights to 163 by February 2009.
    
"We are going to add 31 more weekly flights to the existing 132 by February next year. The enhanced capacity will position Emirates as the single largest international carrier in the Indian skies," Emirates Vice-President (India and Nepal) Orhan Abbas said here.
    
The carrier will introduce seven additional flights with effect from October 26 between Delhi and Dubai, increasing the total weekly frequency in this route from 18 to 25 flights.
    
The Emirates will add seven additional flights per week to its current 28 flights per week from Mumbai.
    
"The strengthening of our operations in India clearly shows the country's importance to Emirates' global operations. Our flights will offer businessmen, leisure travellers and students the convenience and flexibility in their travel plans," Abbas said.

Abbas said, after Dubai, the Emirates the largest operations are in India.
    
"We are very optimistic about India. It is a powerhouse. We see positive side in India," he said.
    
With the existing flights, the company will provide connectivity to Indian passengers to various destinations including Mauritius, Australia and New Zealand in a very competitive fare but with quality service, he said.
    
Emirates is also offering, to the passengers travelling to Dubai, a very special offer -- buy one get one free. Fliers of economy class to Dubai can take their companion free at a special return fare of Rs 33,600.
    
In addition to this, Emirates has also unveiled some exciting return economy class fares for passengers travelling to gateways, including London at Rs 21,095, New York at Rs 49,995, Frankfurt Rs 31,495 and Johannesburg at Rs 38495.
    
"Cargo movement, too, will gain momentum with increased capacity to support the export of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, garments, chemicals, meat, fruits, vegetables, etc, to Middle-East, Africa, Europe and America. With the addition of these flights cargo capacity to New Delhi will increase to 389 tonnes per week, Abbas said.
    
Apart from Delhi and Mumbai, Emirates will introduce five additional flights per week out of Bangalore, one additional flight out of Hyderabad, one out of Chennai and two additional flights out of Kochi, he said.
