HYDERABAD: Losing their debut match hasn’t made the Dhaka Warriors press the panic button, yet. The men from Bangladesh feel that if their top-order fires, it will be agony for their opponents, Hyderabad Heroes, on Wednesday.

“Batting and fielding are our main strengths. When our top and middle order fire, it will be very hard to stop us,” Warriors’ captain Habibul Bashar warned on Tuesday, the eve of the match.

Bashar is concerned, though, about the bowling which let him down in the match against the Royal Bengal Tigers. “We have not played many Twenty20 matches. Our new ball bowling is an area of concern for us. We have to improve it,” Bashar said.

On what went wrong the other day, the former Bangladesh captain said, “We started off very well but we kind of fizzled out… We plan not to repeat the mistakes we made in the first match.”

But the Warriors are worried about the fact that Mohammed Nazimuddin has a hamstring pull. “Yes… He is a bit injured, but our physio has cleared him for Wednesday. It’s nothing major,” Bashar said.

He rates their opponents as a good side and more so because they will be on a high after having posted a win in the opening match against the Lahore Badshahs in the Season II opener.

“They are the defending champions. Also they will be on a high after winning their first match,” he said.

The star of Heroes’ last match, the talented Ambati Rayudu, will have to be careful as the opponents are already thinking of a strategy for him.

“We have monitored Rayudu’s and Justin Kemp’s performances very closely. We have gone over previous footage also. So definitely we have a plan,” he said without going into the details.

Bashar was also quite excited with the ambience of the Indian Cricket League (ICL).
“It has been a wonderful experience! Right from our unveiling to this moment, ICL has been a tremendous experience. What a grand opening ceremony… Even from the cricketing perspective it is turning out to be an enriching experience. The competition level here is as tough as it is in any international meet,” he said.
