PCB to stop use of mobile phone in players' dug-out

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is taking stringent measures to stop the use of mobile phone in and around the players' dug-out during the ongoing National Twenty20 Cup in Lahore in a bid to minimise any possible match-fixing.

The PCB was forced to warn the competing teams to stop using mobile phones after receiving numerous complaints that some of the players and officials have been openly making or receiving phone calls from or near the players' dug-out.

The National Twenty20 Cup is easily the most popular domestic cricket event in Pakistan and is featuring almost all the leading stars of the country.

Sultan Rana, PCB's Director of Domestic cricket, confirmed that the Board has received complaints regarding the illegal use of mobile phones during T20 Cup games at several Lahore venues.

He made it clear that the International Cricket Council (ICC) regulations disallow the use of mobile phones before and during games and added that the PCB will take strict action against any player or official flouting the rule.

In the past, Pakistan cricket was plagued by match-fixing allegations but the PCB claims to have eradicated the menace.
