PUNE: English jockey Lisa Jones registered her name in Pune racing history becoming the first foreign lady jockey to win a title when she won the Escapade Plate Division I here on Sunday. The winner of the Grade I Macau Derby in Taipa, Lisa, scored a clean victory over Adjustment by a neck here.

Atop Jolteon the filly from Dallas Todywalla’s stable, she was a clear winner as her filly adjusted well with its strides before the 200-metre wherein she jerked a bit. “She (Jolteon) adjusted well with me and thanks to my trainer Dallas Todywalla who supported me,” said Lisa after the race.

In the process she becomes the fourth lady jockey after Aisha Captain, Hema B and Sylester Astroy who have won on this track in the past. “I have made it,” said Lisa.
Born in South Africa to Scottish parents, Jones commenced her apprenticeship with the South African Jockeys’ Academy before shifting to England, where she completed her time with Willie Musson at Newmarket, out riding her allowance and took to racing eight years back.
