GORAKHPUR (UP): The BJP alleged on Friday that that Pakistan's ISI and the banned SIMI were active in at least half of Uttar Pradesh with Azamgarh district becoming a "den of terrorists".

"When the country is facing threats from terrorism the Centre has still not been able to bring out a strong legislation like POTA against terrorism," the BJP National Vice President Kalyan Singh said.

Accusing the Centre of failing to curb the spread of terror in the country due to its "weak political will", he pointed that the government had failed to approve an anti-terrorism legislation sent by the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat four years ago.

Terming the recent attack on party MP Yogi Adityanath at Azamgarh as a "planned" one, Singh said the district had become a "den of terrorists".

He said terrorism had "spread its tentacles in at least 34 districts of UP where the ISI and SIMI are active".

Asserting that NDA is the only option at the Centre, the former UP chief minister said it will revive POTA within 100 days of coming to power.

On the upcoming polls, he said BJP has already readied itself for the next Lok Sabha elections and its candidates' list would be finalised before October 15.
