PCPL, NTPC initiates welfare activities

CHANDIGARH: Aravali Power Company Pvt. Ltd. (APCPL), a joint venture of Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (HPGCL), Government of Delhi and NTPC has initiated various developmental and welfare activities in the area surrounding Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project Jhajjar, as a part of its corporate social responsibility.
   
A spokesman of HPGCL said here on Thursday that the Community Development Programme (CDP) for the larger community interest and for addressing the critical needs of the villages has been formulated.
   
A Village Development Advisory Committee (VDAC) comprising representatives from district administration, neighborhood villages and APCPL has been setup for the development of four villages namely Jharli, Khanpur Khurd, Goriya and Mohanbari in the first phase.
   
These villages would be developed as model villages and shall have all the facilities as per the State policy.

In its first meeting the Committee discussed the requirements of the villagers and various modalities for implementation and asked the various village representatives and Panchayat officers to give their consent on the matter.
   
The spokesman said that a sum of Rs. 4.60 crore has been sanctioned for strengthening the local power supply distribution system of 22 villages and estimate for the same is being prepared by the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.
   
The Nigam has started implementation of high voltage distribution system to ensure uninterrupted power supply with better voltage in the villages of district Jhajjar.
   
The APCPL would also be promoting various income generating schemes for land contributors such as award of petty contracts, allotment of shops in township, vehicle hiring, allotment of PCOs/Internet kiosks, allotment of canteen, newspaper vending, courier and thickening services, water carriers and local transportation.
