SINGAPORE: Security, storage and systems management solutions provider Symantec will release its latest findings on disaster recovery here on Tuesday, a top official said on Monday.
"The global survey delves into threats impacting organisations, challenges faced when formulating disaster recovery strategies and their preparedness for a disaster," Symantec Asia South vice-president Eric Hoh said.
With a wide range of anti-virus and security solutions, the US-based Symantec helps businesses and consumers secure and manage their information across the chain.
In February, the company came out with Version 8, a new back-up executive system for Windows system recovery.
The new version helps organisations to recover virtual environments from system loss or disasters in minutes, even to dissimilar hardware.
"Today's mission-critical environments must be quickly recoverable in the event of a system failure or disaster to avoid the revenue and employee productivity losses that too often result from downtime," Symantec product management vice-president Pat Hanavan said.
The survey recommendations will enable chief information or technology officers plan preventive measures and build redundancies to ensure critical operations are not held hostage to cyber attacks or natural calamities.
Symantec India chief technology officer Basant Rajan conducted the disaster recovery survey.
Meanwhile, at Symantec's twin conferences - Symantec Vision and Manage Fusion - being held here jointly for the first time in the Asia-Pacific region, technology experts are expected to focus on key issues such as data loss prevention, end-point management and business continuity.
"The conferences will give participants a better perspective of latest technology trends such as IT compliance, Green IT and information risk management," Hoh said.
About 1,000 delegates have converged from the South Asian region including India for the events.
Symantec chief technology officer Mark Bregman and IT and services group head David Thomson will deliver keynotes on security issues and the menace of cyber threats in the form of spam, phishers and hacking.
"There will also be a live demo of leading compliance, storage, end-point and information risk management technologies at the expo being held as part of the event," Eric noted.
Symantec technology partners Dell Asia, Intel Technology Asia, Sun Microsystems, Fujitsu Asia, HP Singapore and Data Domain will be showcasing their products on which Symantec software run.
