Adulterated milk seized from Juhu

Officials of the Commodities Branch (CB) control of the Mumbai crime branch and the
Food and Drug Administration department on Tuesday arrested six persons and busted racket involved in milk adulteration. The officers seized 804 litres of adulterated milk from them.

The arrested have been identified as Yagree Shalu Gauda, 32; Ligyaya Khandpuri, 34; Saidul Nayyaboina, 30; Nirya Rawla, 29; Pandu Lode, 34, and Swami Gorriya, 35.

Officials from the CB control received information that the milk delivery boys at Santoshi Mata Nagar at JVPD scheme in Juhu were adulterating milk and distributing it to the residents. The police raided the room at JVPD where the six were residing.

Explaining the modus operandi of the gang, a police officer said, “The delivery boys, who hail from Andhra Pradesh, obtained milk packets from Aarey and Varna outlets for distribution. They would open the sealed packets and remove around 150 ml of milk.
They would then add tap water and seal the packets again.”
