Man ends life, wife gets jail

A Pune court on Monday sentenced a 21-year-old married woman and her mother to four years rigorous imprisonment for abetting the suicide of her husband.

Principal district judge Ashok Cheema who passed the order, also fined Ashwini Kunal Dolas and her mother Surekha Pardeshi, 46, Rs5,000 each. Ashwini’s husband Kunal Ravindra Dolas had committed suicide on March 15, 2006. Public prosecutor Subhash
Patil examined 10 witnesses in this case.

Patil and Ashwini had a love marriage in Thane on April 19, 2006. Relations between the two became strained immediately after the marriage.

He committed suicide blaming the continuously harassment from his wife and her mother for the extreme step.
