Afridi, dogged by a wrist problem in recent months, is attending to his wife, who has been unwell for a while.
In addition to this domestic issue, the Karachi-based player is also awaiting an MRI report on his injured wrist.
The big-hitting Afridi is awaiting his MRI report due on Monday after which it would be decided whether he can feature in the Toronto quadrangular to be played in Toronto from August 14-17.
"We will consider Afridi for the tournament in Canada but only if he is fully fit," chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said Saturday.
Afridi, who has scored 5479 runs from 265 One-day Internationals besides taking 239 wickets, has been going through a lean patch of form, especially with the bat and was dropped from Pakistan's last Asia Cup match against Bangladesh in Karachi earlier this month following a series of poor outings.
Apart from the unimpressive form, Afridi, who has also played 26 Tests, is also facing fitness problems as he has been enduring a painful wrist in recent times. Afridi, now an accomplished spinner, finding it difficult to bowl with a painful wrist.
Afridi, 28, also missed Pakistan team's conditioning camp that concluded at Kakul's military training academy on Saturday. His inclusion in Pakistan's squad for the four-nation event in Canada may depend on his availability for a series of practice games Pakistan will be playing in Lahore next month before leaving for Toronto. Pakistan will be joined by the West Indies, Bangladesh and hosts Canada in the quadrangular to be played from August 14-17.
