NEW DELHI: US-based mobile phone maker Motorola said on Monday it has joined hands with Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari to launch a co-branded 3G-enabled handset priced at Rs 21,840 in the Indian market.
    
The new handset --MOTORAZR 2 V9 Ferrari would  be available exclusively at the Mobile Store for the first week of  its  launch. However, the phone would not be a limited edition device.
    
"The consumers mindset and taste is rapidly changing in India. The formula one racing culture is fast catching the fancy of the Indian youth and we are confident that we will find the right kind of audience for the product here," Motorola Senior Director, Sales and Distribution (India and South West Asia) Lloyd Mathias said.
    
The product is 3G enabled, so users could use the device to watch movies as well, once the operators start 3G services here, he said.
    
The phone comes with a unique racing interface, 2-mega pixel camera and has expandable memory up to 2 GB.
    
"Initially, the product will be available in ten cities such as Delhi and NCR , Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Pune , Kochin and other cities. Depending on the success we will make the product available in other cities as well," Essar Telecom Retail (The Mobile Store) CEO and Director Rajiv Aggarwal said.
    
With mobile phones becoming more of a life style product and fashion accessory, luxury brands are extending their names to the devices. Big names in fashion like Armani , Prada  have launched their co-branded products with Samsung and  LG, respectively.
    
Even luxury car makers are zooming in to the mobile fast lane with co-branded mobile phones and PDAs.
    
Networking devices maker ASUS Technology had recently also launched limited edition of  ASUS  ZX1 PDA phone in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 47,777 , co-branded with Italian sports car maker Lamborghini. Motorola also had
co-branded their handsets with Italian fashion house Dolce&Gabbana (D&G).
