AGRA: The police have rescued more than 30 sex workers, including two minor girls, in Agra who were to be "sold off" to others in the industry.

Senior Superintendent of Police Raghuvir Lal on Monday night raided brothels in Mal ka Bazar and another opposite the Sikandra police station.

The search of a brothel opposite Akbar's tomb in Sikandra led to three bar girls from Mumbai.

The three, all sisters, told the police they had been working at dance bars in Mumbai for 10 years and moved to Agra last month.

In a raid three days ago in Mal ka bazaar, 13 sex workers, including two minors, were taken into custody. Most of them were from Nepal and Maharashtra.

One of the minor girls, from Maharashtra, used to study in Class 8 when she was lured into sex trade, a police officer said.
