Tirupati temple introduces E-sales

TIRUPATI: The 2000-year-old hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara, the first E-temple, has now introduced E-sales enabling devotees from all over the world to buy devotional books and CDS with a click of mouse.

Officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which manages the shrine, said on Friday that by the new service devotees from all over the world can buy online TTD publications in Sanskrit, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Urudu and English.

Devotional Audio CDs including the sacred Suprabhatham sung by M S Subbalakshmi and Video DVDs of festivals conducted at Tirumala including Navaratri Brahmotsavam festivals, would also be available.

However, the famous Tirupathi Laddu and other prasadams cannot be sold online, the sources said.

They said the TTD has not yet taken any decision on the online sale of different sizes of gold and silver coins which carry the images of Lord Venkateswara and Sri Padmavathi now available only inside the Temple.

The Lord Venkateswara shrine earlier became the first E-temple by introducing a host of internet services to sell tickets for poojas and darshan.

And the Lord on the sacred seven hills has become the first E-god with the introduction of several E-Services such E-Seva, E-Darshan, E-Accommodation, E-Hundi and E-Donations.
