EC sending team to Karnataka to review poll preparations

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission is deputing a high-level team of its officials, including three Deputy Election Commissioners, to Karnataka on Tuesday to review the poll preparations in the state.
    
The officials would undertake district-wise review of all constituencies going for polls in the first phase on May 10.
    
As many as 89 constituencies, out of a total of 224 constituencies, would go to polls on May 10.
    
Besides interacting with civil and police officials and Returning Officers of the districts, they would also review all aspects of election management with the Chief Electoral Officer, EC sources said.
    
After announcing the poll schedule, the full Commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami, had visited Bangalore last week to review the preparations.
    
Elections in the state will be held on May 10, 16 and 22. Counting of votes will be taken up on May 25.
