The Indian Cricket League has conducted three tournaments in a span of just under a year and every tournament has scaled newer heights of success. We added two teams to the roaster in the second edition of the ICL 20s and one of them is still in the hunt for the crown.

The Lahore Badshahs have lost the first game of the best of three finals and I am writing the column well before we know whether the third final will be required or not. But one thing is sure that the tournament has been a huge success and has been another cap in the feather of the organisers.

If the Badshahs do manage to take the final into the decider then I am sure it will be a cracker of a game and given the experience of the squad they will once again be the favourites. No matter who wins the tournament, but both teams have won the hearts of the people across the country.

Buoyed by the response we have received for the three previous tournament, the ICL board will conduct the ICL World Series from April 9 and I have no doubt that the event will break all previous records.

Three teams - ICL India, ICL Pakistan and ICL World - will feature in seven games with each team playing against each other twice followed by the finals. All the games will be played at Hyderabad’s Lal Bahadur stadium.

The ICL India will be lead by R. Satish, the Pakistan team will be led by Inzamam-ul Haq while Chris Cairns will captain the world team. The tournament is likely to be the toughest test for our promising domestic cricketers, who have been selected by the selection committee based on their growth as cricketers and respective individual performances.

The world series provide the domestic players an opportunity to show how much they have developed through the year and will be their litmus test. The tournament will play an important role in the future cricket development plan.
